Today, we're going to begin our reflective essay on the Black Death. As you're walking around looking at your colleagues artwork, look for the symbols they used to describe the event. For this essay, use the following question as a starting point: What symbols (or symbolism) did your colleagues use to highlight the impact of the Black Death on Europe, and the rest of the world?
This four paragraph essay is due on Friday, 30 January.

Everyone is off to a great start! Thank you for taking the time to work on your essays at home. Today we will begin the peer editing phase of our essays. Please remember to review Boccaccio's Decameron and to find quotes for your essay.
Thursday:
-individual art project feedback
-peer edits on paragraphs two and three
-continue with reading and questions
-vocabulary review
I was impressed by the enthusiasm you all showed at the end of class yesterday. Let's keep it moving forward today! We will begin class by helping one another edit our essays, and then transition into our background reading on the crusades. We will spend the last few minutes of class reviewing for the vocabulary assessment.

Today, we are going to begin a unit on the crusades and their impact upon the Middle East and Europe, and how that impact can still be felt today.
