Week 5, 9-13 February: How did the Crusades impact the "Holy Land" and how is that impact still felt today?
Monday:
-field trip reminder
-discussion forum reminder
-continue with Crusade inquiry project
Happy Monday! Nice work last week, everybody. Most of you are on the fourth component and working steadily. Teamwork, again, has been excellent so far. Today, your goal is to finish the mini-project (speech, newsletter, or poster) by the end of class.
Tuesday:
-field trip reminder
-continue with Crusade inquiry project
After two classes focused on the mini-project, we will get back on track and look further into the crusades. All of you are past checkpoint four now and can move at your own pace. Keep up the good work!
Wednesday:
-field trip reminder
-check homework
-continue with Crusade inquiry project
Learning Goals:
1.) Understand how long and protracted the Crusades were.
2.) Understand how the weapons and tactics used in the Crusades shaped how battles
3.) Make sense of dates chronologically.
Many of you are on the timeline or weapons section of our week long project. Please make sure to summarize, in your own words, what happened during each crusade. Remember, details count!
Thursday:
-check homework (weapons)
-continue with Crusade inquiry project
Learning Goals:
1.) Take into account both Muslim and Christian views of the crusades.
2.) Understand how point of view affects history and how events are viewed.
Today, you're going to be researching both Muslim and Christian views on the crusade. How did their differing views affect what was written about the crusades later?
Friday:
-check homework (points of view)
-class meeting
After a successful class meeting last week, we will discuss any and everything that you see fit. Please remember to fill in a comment slip and to drop it in the box before the bell rings.
